Luego de la presentación de la selección peruana de voleibol femenino en los XVIII Juegos Panamericanosima Lima 2019, ahora el equipo nacional deberá defender los colores del país en el Sudamericano de Cajamarca, competencia que además otorgará cuatro clasificados al Preolímpico rumbo a Tokio 2020.
«Este sudamericano no me lo planteo como un tema de revancha, sino de poder jugar mejor cada vez, y luego competiré con quien me corresponda. Lo cierto es que se prevee un sudamericano muy atractivo, con cuatro equipos muy competitivos para pelear por los puestos, y nosotros necesitamos seguir creciendo y seguro nos vendrá fantástico. El equipo necesita seguir creciendo, y enfrentarnos a rivales como estos será muy importante», precisó el técnico de la selección nacional, Francisco Hervás.
Perú estará anclado en el Grupo B, junto a Colombia, Uruguay y Bolivia. Por su parte, el Grupo A estará integrado por Brasil, Argentina, Venezuela y Ecuador.
La selección peruana ha conquistado en 12 oportunidades el título sudamericano, mientras que Brasil lo ha hecho en 20 ocasiones. El resto de selecciones de la región no ha podido coronarse nunca en la historia de las 32 ediciones previas.
Es importante precisar que Cajamarca tendrá la posibilidad de exhibir su belleza natural y cultural. El valle de cajamarca está situada a 2750 metros sobre el nivel del mar, y justamente ahí se erige el flamante Coliseo Gran Qhapaq Ñan, con capacidad para 8,500 espectadores.
