Tras una gira por Europa, su participación en la Challenger Cup y la Copa Panamericana, ahora la selección Blanquirroja tendrá una prueba interesante, en una justa continental donde enfrentará a tres seleccionados de gran talla.
«Sabemos que va a ser duro, tenemos tres rivales que nos van a exigir al máximo, pero nosotros hemos trabajado fuerte y estamos preparados para afrontar el desafío», precisó Francisco Hervás.

Canadá será el primer rival a afrontar: las norteamericanas consiguieron campeona en la última edición de la Challenger Cup que se realizó en Lima, y ahora traerán una mezcla renovada. Colombia, es el seleccionado revelación de Sudamérica, luego de haber alcanzado el tercer lugar en la pasada Copa Panamericana que se desarrolló en Chiclayo y Trujillo. Por otro lado, República Dominicana, un equipo con grandes pergaminos, actual subcampeón continental, es el sexteto favorito del grupo.
«Comenzaremos con Canadá que trae un equipo renovado con una mezcla de jugadoras que ya han pasado por el equipo nacional y otras con menos experiencia, de las que no tenemos mucha información. Después enfrentaremos a Colombia que ya se está convirtiendo en un clásico de Perú, un rival complicado, porque está jugando muy bien en los últimos años, y el cual no será sencillo. Sin embargo, nosotros tenemos mucha ilusión de hacer un buen juego contra ellas y pelear por ese puesto en semifinales que es por el que todos pugnaremos. Después vendrá Dominicana, uno de lo equipos más duros a vencer en el grupo. Pero hay que ir paso a paso, creo que ahora estamos pensando en el primer rival que es Canadá, y veremos como se da ese encuentro, para luego planear contra Colombia que sería el siguiente oponente a vencer», explicó el director técnico.
